WEOLEY CASTLE: While the apple must fall down from the tree, some land on the flat, or in mud - at least Payton L. Inkletter rolled a healthy distance

Be all that as it may, meanwhile:

In other news…

12th February 2009:

Thursday: Janny picked Pa pree up and brought him here about five o’clock, and the Babies arrived a little after seven. She phoned Aunt Elsie, who was at cousin Vee’s hospital bedside, where tomorrow he undergoes an 8 to 9 hour operation on his throat to excise the cancer, and understandably she was very concerned.

I had forgotten to dig out Janny’s special chair –which she bought a couple of years ago for use in Bunbury where Baby Inkletter used to live – from the carport, and it was smothered in dust and stains, so I spent a bit of time cleaning it up to bring inside, in order that she could sit on it during our game later, for the hard kitchen chairs are not agreeing with Janny’s back problem when she sits on them for extended periods. I gave the possums a couple of bottles of worm liquid for their expanding botanical menagerie on their inner city high rise patio. Missus Inklechiliconcarne treated us to a lovely main course of the same name, mild, so that Pa pree and I could eat it and yet live, necessitating the Babies Ink&Peggletter shovelling a number of skipsful of chilli jelly and sauce into theirs, and living to tell the tale, I understand not how. Later we were treated to a Mars Bar cheesecake by Missus Inklecheesecakequeen, and it was superb.

We played Squatter, which for Janny, Pa pree, and me was a first, and it was a lot of fun; yes, Baby Inkletter won, with a herd of sheep that made the pre-white man herds of bison that thundered across the prairies of North America look like two pairs of guinea pigs doing the chachachá. The game took a long while, such that the Babies didn’t leave till about midnight, returning Pa pree at the same time. Baby Inkletter gave me my first ever thumb drive, a spiffy 4 Gig Imation model, and I was rapt, for it will be a zillion times better for backing my writing up than the blasted DVD rewritable discs which in no time go haywire and corrupt on me, whether it be plain old Nero backup, or InCD, or whatever.

I was too weary to walk, so we chatted for a while after our guests left, and after a tad of pooter bits and pieces I retired not long after Janny, leaving the kitchen looking like a bomb had hit it, at least the sink and bench areas. Thursday nights are the highlight of my week, and I eagerly anticipate them, for the visit of my daughter and her partner is a real treat. Prayers for a successful operation for my younger cousin Vee were a priority as I prepared to sleep.
