BONNIE DOON: “Bud Tingwell has earned his long service leave, and on just terms,” a contemplative Payton L. Inkletter mulls, while fishing in his moat

Be all that as it may, meanwhile:

In other news…

15th May 2009:

Friday: I arose about nine, and began getting ready for taking Bob swimming. I had felt unwell last night with indigestion and elevated heart rate, and after about a couple of hours I realized it was not going to be wise to be away from home for five hours today, given that gastroenteritis had taken hold, with several bouts all morning. Pa pree had it a couple of days back. I took two tablets of ‘Harmonise’, a generic version, I think, of ‘Imodium’, upon Missus Inkleamateurapothecary’s advice, and then the pernickety perentie cancelled with Bob’s people by phone for me. (Wow that stuff is powerful! I didn’t go to the loo for a poo for two days! Most, no, extremely, unusual for me.)

I had committed to Pa pree to book the Swift in for more muffler repairs next week, so I reluctantly left home mid afternoon and took Janny with me to Malaga, and did just that, while she had a quick Op Shop fix nearby, before we shot over to Benara Fresh Markets in Beechboro for another box of Fuji apples and a box of pears, but ten bucks each! I have never had so much fruit daily in my twenty seven years of marriage, and I’m loving it. The medicine was holding, but nevertheless, I was glad to get back home late afternoon. I did some backyard work before dark, then watched Aunty till half eight and had to go to bed, exhausted (no walk), and stayed there all night. This missing of my walks is bothering me.

Bud Tingwell, you’ve burnt your noble self into my heart with your role in The Castle alone, my all time favourite film. Thank you for what you gave us all in your long life.
